Frequently asked questions
Which photo of my house works best?
Straight on, in daylight, with the whole facade in frame and no cars or bins in front of it. Step back a few paces rather than shooting close up on a wide lens — that tips the facade backwards.
Can the address or the year go on the tile?
Yes. The street, house number, postcode or the year you moved in are painted in underneath the facade in the same Delft Blue style — part of the tile, not a label stuck below it.
Can I use an old family photo or a Street View screenshot?
An old family photo often works beautifully, as long as it’s sharp; a scanned print usually beats a photo of a photo. We’d advise against a Street View screenshot: the resolution is too low and the imagery is copyrighted. Walk past and take one, or ask the current owner.
Is this a good housewarming or moving gift?
